Bute Primaries Win 2016 Tulloch League | |
24 June 2016 Bute Primaries won the 2016 Tulloch league with a 6-2 victory over Portree Primary School at the Jubilee Park on Saturday 18 June 2016. This 9-A-Side match was played 30 minutes each-way with a 10 minutes each-way extra-time period if necessary and penalties thereafter if required. Portree made it through from the North qualifiers and the Bute Primaries doing like-wise from the South, with over 30 schools taking part. It was an early start for both teams with throw up at noon. It was a warm day in Ballachulish and the local club had ensured that the Jubilee Park was in excellent condition. Jack McKirdy got the Bute youngsters off to a great start when he finished off a good passing move after just 3 minutes and Leon MacMillan made it 2-0 on 13 minutes. Portree started to come more into the game and Liam MacQueen pulled a goal back on 17 minutes but a second from Jack McKirdy on 21 minutes ensured Bute would lead 3-1 after the first 30 minutes. The second half was just a couple of minutes old when Leon MacMillan got his second to make it 4-1. Portree never gave up though and a second from Liam MacQueen made it 4-2 on 35 minutes. Leon MacMillan completed his hat-trick on 55 minutes and Marcus Planck rounded off the 6-2 victory a couple of minutes later. The big games keep coming for Bute Primaries who face either Portree or Newtonmore in the national MacKay Cup Final at An Aird this coming Saturday. Throw up is at 1.15pm.
