Beauly U17 Win 2015 Strathdearn Sixes | |
25 June 2015 Beauly U17 win the 2015 Strathdearn Sixes at the Bught Park on Wednesday 24 June 2015. Nine teams – Beauly, Caberfeidh, Fort William, Glenurquhart Inverness, Kingussie Lochcarron, Lovat and Newtonmore, - played out a round robin league before the top two teams met in the final. Each league match lasted eight minutes and every game was keenly contested with plenty of fast exciting shinty on show. After the thirty six league games, Beauly topped the table with 14 points just, one more than second place Newtonmore. Remarkably, neither team had conceded a goal in any of their eight matches and a very close final seemed likely. This proved to be the case and after 10 minutes of end to end action, a Sandy Elrick goal was all that separated the teams and was enough to take the Strathdearn Cup to Braeview Park. Inverness and former Scotland manager Drew Macneil presented the Strathdearn Cup to Beauly captain Andrew Morrison. To complete a clean sweep for Neil Brindle’s Beauly side, Sandy Elrick was awarded the trophy for Player of the Tournament. Tournament Referees: John Matheson, Calum Girvan, Andy MacLean and Barrie Dallas Peter Gow was the score keeper and Inverness Shinty Club provided refreshments and snacks. |
