2017 Marine Harvest Shinty / Hurling Internationals …………. 1 Day To Go! | |
20 October 2017 The Scotland players will have a final meeting today ahead of the Marine Harvest Shinty / Hurling Internationals against Ireland at The Bught Park, Inverness on Saturday 21 October 2017. Scotland Head Coach Ronald Ross goes into his fourth encounter against the Irish at The Bught Park with no major injury worries. Concerns surrounding Rory Kennedy and Greg Matheson have eased and the Scotland boss knows the team he thinks will give the Scots the best chance of a fourth successive home win. A feature of the Scotland sides which won their last three home encounters has been their ability to take the ball down, keep it on the ground and use the wide spaces of the Bught Park pitch. No one would be surprised if the Scots used similar tactics during this game. Scotland captain Finlay MacRae has been involved in these fixtures for around 14 years and his recent appearances have been in defence. Cork’s Conor Lehane will be an Irish threat and he gave a good showing in this fixture in 2014 scoring 1-9 over the two matches. Calum Girvan referees the senior meeting between the Scots and the Irish for the first time. He will be assisted by Umpires John Angus Gillies and John Keane at one goal and Billy MacLeod and Brian MacKay at the other. Iain Kennedy and Steven MacLachlan are the Linesmen whist Archie Ritchie will be the fourth official. John Keane referees the U21 meeting between the two countries. John Angus Gillies, Archie Ritchie, Billy MacLeod and Brian MacKay are the Umpires whilst Iain Kennedy and Steven MacLachlan are again the Linesmen. Throw in for the senior match is at 2pm whilst the U21 match throws in at 11.50am. These games are preceded by the Women’s Camanachd Association inaugural North U14 v South U14 match which throws up at 10.30am.
