01 August 2017 A total twenty seven teams took part in the Annual Inverness Sixes at The Bught Park, Inverness on Sunday 30 July 2017. U14 – Ken Ross Trophy Nine teams - Ballachulish, Beauly A, Beauly B, Glenurquhart, Inverness Boys, Inverness Girls, Kinlochshiel, Lochaber and Newtonmore - were split into two sections to contest the U14 Ken Ross Trophy. Kinlochshiel, Beauly, Ballachulish and Lochaber all won through to the semi-finals where Lochaber defeated Kinlochshiel and Ballachulish beat Beauly. Lochaber beat Ballachulish 3-0 in the final to win the trophy for the first time since 1982. Ronnie Fulford captained the side. Inverness player Arran McMaster presented the trophies. Ladies – Alistair Gow Shield Eleven teams - Badenoch & Strathspey A, Badenoch and Strathspey B, Glasgow Mid Argyll, Inverness, Glenurquhart, Lochaber A, Lochaber B, Skye Camanachd A, Skye Camanachd B, Strathglass and Strathspey - took part in the Alistair Gow Shield competition. Holders Skye beat Strathspey in the semi-finals with Badenoch overcoming Lochaber. Skye came out winners, their third successive success in this competition, edging out Badenoch & Strathspey 1-0 in the final with Lorna MacRae getting the goal. Skye’s Lorna MacRae was named player of the tournament Peter Gow presented the trophies. Seniors - Jubilee Shield Event organisers were disappointed that only seven teams – Caberfeidh, Cornwall, English Shinty Association, Inverness, Inverness-shire, Kyleakin and Strathspey – entered the Jubilee Shield competition. Caberfeidh's Bain Morrison was named player of the tournament; also for the third successive year. Jeya Calder presented the trophies. Seniors - Rosedean Shield The teams that miss out on a Jubilee Shield semi-final place contest the Rosedean Shield where Strathspey beat the English Shinty Association and Cornwall to take the title; their first senior success.
