09 September 2016 The 2016 Strathdearn Cup Final between the Glenurquhart second team and Lochcarron takes place at Castle Leod on Saturday 10 September 2016. Lochcarron, who play in Marine Harvest North Division 2, received bye in the first round of the Strathdearn Cup before showing great cup spirit to win a tie on penalties, a tie by the odd goal and a tie in extra-time.

Strathdearn Cup – Second Round Saturday 18 June 2106 Lochcarron 5 Caberfeidh 5 (after extra time - Lochcarron won 3-0 on penalties) Lochcarron came from 4-1 down to beat the Caberfeidh on penalties after an action packed afternoon at Battery Park. Nick Dalgety gave Lochcarron the lead on 13 minutes but Colin MacLennan on 21 minutes, Alan Ross on 35 minutes and Stuart Kryzanowski on the stroke of half time meant Cabers led 3-1 at the interval. When Robbie Sehar made it 4-1 on 58 minutes, things looked bleak for Lochcarron. However they fought back and three goals in the last 14 minutes took the tie to extra-time. Kieran Murray on 76 minutes, Niall Arnott on 83 minutes and a last-gasp Angus Urquhart effort a minute from time made it 4-4. Colin MacLennan put Cabers back in front on 98 minutes but Liam Arnott made it 5-5 with 100 minutes played. And if all that wasn’t enough, referee Archie Ritchie then had to show red cards to Lochcarron brothers Sean MacCuish and David MacCuish and Caberfeidh’s Paddy Wilson following an incident late on. With no scoring during the final 20 minutes, referee Archie Ritchie took the tie to a penalty shoot-out. Nick Dalgety stepped up first for Lochcarron and scored whilst Alan MacKay did like-wise. Douglas MacKenzie then missed for the home side but Liam Arnott netted. Meantime, Lochcarron keeper Matthew Young had saved all three Cabers’ penalties so Lochcarron won the shoot-out 3-0.
Strathdearn Cup - Second Round Saturday 11 June 2016 Kilmallie 1 Lochcarron 2 Lochcarron came from a goal down to beat the Kilmallie second team 2-1 at the Canal Parks. Iain Beagrie put Kilmallie ahead after 10 minutes but Lochcarron’s Liam Arnott, who was named “Most Committed Player” at the Camanachd Association Development Camp earlier in the week, made it 1-1 after half an hour. The winning goal came 10 minutes from time when Sean MacCuish scored to clinch Lochcarron’s place in the last four of the competition. Lochcarron will now play the Skye Camanachd reserves in the semi-finals.

Strathdearn Cup – Semi Finals Saturday 13 August 2016 Lochcarron 4 Skye Camanachd 2 (After extra-time) Lochcarron reached the Strathdearn Cup Final with a 4-2 win over the Skye Camanachd second team after two hours of shinty in their semi-final tie at Battery Park. Nick Dalgety got Lochcarron off to the best possible start with a goal in the opening minute. Ross Gordon equalised on 28 minutes and the same player put the Islanders 2-1 ahead just 4 minutes into the second half. A second Nick Dalgety goal on 64 minutes tied the contest for a second time. With no further scoring, referee Scott Mcneil took the tie into an extra-time period. And it was Lochcarron who went back in front through Sean MacCuish on 95 minutes whilst Peter MacKenzie made it 4-2 just a minute from the end of an exciting clash.
