2015 Marine Harvest London Shield Final – Preview | |
19 November 2015 Some of shinty’s top youth talent will be on show as Oban Camanachd U17 and Newtonmore U17 meet in the 2015 Marine Harvest London Shield Final at Cannich on Saturday 21 November 2015. The teams met at senior level at the Bught Park last weekend. Oban Camanachd started with Ross MacMillan in defence and Daniel MacVicar up front. MacMillan marked ‘More top scorer Glen MacKintosh whilst MacVicar has been a fixture in the side for the second half of the season. Both will be key to the Mossfield team’s chances of lifting the trophy. Keeper Brian Logan, Lewis Buchanan, Daniel MacCuish and Daniel MacMillan will also be ones to watch. Similarly, Newtonmore introduced Iain Richardson at full back and Iain Robinson up front early in the second half of that game against Oban Camanachd and they will both feature strongly for the Eilan side. Duncan Gorman will be another important player whilst the match will be played in familiar surroundings for Jono Price. He plays senior shinty for Strathglass but plays U17 shinty for Newtonmore as Strathglass do not have a team at that level. A big crowd is expected with no other matches in the locality. The final had originally been scheduled for Mossfield last weekend but was postponed as the pitch was water-logged. Glengarry’s Craigard pitch was the selected venue for the rearranged game but that has also been ruled unplayable so an early decision has been made to change the venue. Throw up is at 1pm and Deek Cameron is the match referee. If the score is level after the regulation time, there will be 10 minutes each-way extra-time followed by a penalty shoot-out if necessary. Kingussie’s ground the Dell has been put on stand-by in case there are any late problems at Cannich. |
