09 February 2015 The Isle of Skye Primary Schools Camanachd Association First Shinty Competitions took place over the last week.
P1-3 First Shinty Tournament Six teams from throughout the Island took place in the P1-3 First Shinty Tournament at Portree High School. Portree Tigers took first place with Dunvegan runners-up. The tournament referees were David Pringle, Will Cowie and James Pringle.
P4-5 First Shinty Tournament Five Skye teams contested the P4-5 First Shinty Tournament at Portree High School. Portree A were overall winners with Dunvegan coming second. North End took third place with South Skye and Portree B joint fourth. Portree A and Dunvegan qualify for the Gilmour Sports National First Shinty Finals in Fort William on Saturday 28 March 2015.
P7 (& Under) First Shinty Tournament Eleven teams from throughout Skye contested the P7 (& Under) First Shinty Tournament at Portree High School. Portree A beat South Skye in the final to run out overall winners. Both teams will go through to the Gilmour Sports National First Shinty Finals in Fort William on Saturday 28 March 2015. The tournament referees were David Pringle, Will Cowie and James Pringle.
Active Schools Sports Co-ordinator Sarah Ross was the main organiser whilst the Skye Camanachd Ladies held fund raisers, selling soup, sandwiches and great cakes at each event. |
