2014 Pre-season Friendlies – Saturday 25 January 2014 | |
25 January 2014 Aberdour hosted pre-season friendlies against Glasgow Mid Argyll and Kingussie at Silver Sands on Saturday 25 January 2014. Aberdour 0 Glasgow Mid Argyll 8 Aberdour fielded a youthful second string for their meeting with the Glasgow Mid Argyll second team at Silver Sands. The Glasgow side have enjoyed a series of productive pre-season training sessions but their side had a few players (and first team manager George Hay) on Scotland University duty against Ulster in Northern Ireland. However they were able to call on the services of first team forward Craig Anderson who made his come-back from an injury which ruled him out of the latter stages of last season. GMA led 1-0 after a wet first half but they were dominant in the second period and eventually ran out 8-0 winners. Iain Luke and Lewis Miller bagged doubles whilst youngsters Calum McLeay and Scott Anderson were also on target with Craig Anderson and an own goal completing the tally.
Aberdour 1 Kingussie 7 Kingussie co-managers Russell Jones and Davie Anderson travelled south with a team which was a mixture of youth and experience for a lunchtime meeting with Marine Harvest South Division 1 side Aberdour at Silver Sands. This was a tough test for Aberdour but an early goal from Craig Matheson gave the home side a shock lead. However Kingussie fought back and, under the watchful eye of referee Dave Mitchell, Thomas Borthwick bagged an impressive five goals and strikes from Savio Genini and James Falconer completed a 7-1 victory for the Kings. |
