Kingussie gradually came more into the game and they led 2-0 at the interval. Kingussie had more of the play in the second half although Fort William were still dangerous on the break. Kilmallie U17 keeper Shane Gillies was given a debut in goal and there was also a first senior start for Craig MacIsaac at wing forward. There was a place on the Newtonmore bench for Evan Menzies who is back in the fold after a spell abroad. Referee Ron Kennedy had an early flashpoint to deal with and he sent ‘More’s Cameron Binnie from the field after a clash with Kilmallie forward Martin Stewart. Kilmallie created several first half chances but they were unable to make them count. The Newtonmore forward line was in fine form as they unselfishly passed the ball to create numerous chances, particularly in the second half when Evan Menzies came in at full forward and he held the ball well to set up chances for his fellow forwards. In the end, Evan Menzies grabbed a hat-trick whilst Danny MacRae went one better with four goals. Calum Stewart netted twice with substitute Michael Rodger getting Kilmallie’s goal. Shane Gillies made some great second half saves to prevent an even bigger winning margin.
