24 July 2013 The Aberdein Considine Sutherland Cup Final between Ballachulish and Lochcarron takes place at Smith Park, Farr on Saturday 27 July 2013. This will be Ballachulish’s first Sutherland Cup Final since 1971 when they beat Skye Camanachd 2-0 in Inverness to lift the famous trophy. They have recorded some impressive results on the way to this year’s final.
Aberdein Considine Sutherland Cup – First Round Saturday 6 April 2013 Ballachulish 4 Kinlochshiel 1 Ballachulish showed that they could be a good bet in this year’s competition when they beat Kinlochshiel 4-1 at Jubilee Park. A Duncan MacDonald brace on 4 and 24 minutes, either side of a 6 minute Lorne Brown effort, put them 3-0 ahead. The visitors pulled a goal back through Aedan MacRae on 36 minutes but Duncan MacDonald completed his hat-trick with a strike 5 minutes from time to make it 4-1.
Aberdein Considine Sutherland Cup – Second Round Saturday 27 April 2013 Kingussie 1 Ballachulish 3 Holders Kingussie are out of this year’s competition as they lost 3-1 to Ballachulish in their early match at the Dell. Ronald Ross featured in defence for the Kings but they fell behind to a Lorne Brown strike on 18 minutes. Brown added a second a couple of minutes into the second half. When referee Ronnie Campbell awarded the visitors a penalty on 69 minutes, former Fort William player John MacDonald stepped up to add a third. Chris Hollysong pulled a goal back for Kingussie 5 minutes from time but is Balla who are through to the next round.
Aberdein Considine Sutherland Cup – Quarter Finals Saturday 25 May 2013 Ballachulish 3 Lochaber 1 Marine Harvest South Division 2 side Ballachulish beat Marine Harvest North Division 3 side Lochaber 3-1 at Jubilee Park. A Lorne Brown double and a goal from John Clark won the day for the home side with Martin Paterson countering for Lochaber.
Aberdein Considine Sutherland Cup – Semi Finals Ballachulish 4 Lovat 3 (after extra time) Ballachulish are through to the 2013 Aberdein Considine Sutherland Cup Final following their 4-3 extra-time win over Lovat at An Aird, Fort William. Lovat led 2-0 at the interval thanks to a 40 minute Fraser Gallacher strike and a goal from Jamie Matheson on the stroke of half time. Michael Slezas pulled a goal back on 54 minutes and ‘Balla’s captain Alan Clark, who had been pushed into attack following injury, drew the sides level on 77 minutes. Alan Clark was proving to be a handful for the Lovat defence and he put the Jubilee Park side in front a couple of minutes later. However Jamie Matheson got his second strike of the afternoon 5 minutes from the end of the regulation 90 minutes to take the tie into an extra time period. Alan Clark was the Ballachulish hero as he struck on 100 minutes to take his side through to the televised final which will take place at Boleskine’s pitch at Farr on Saturday 27 July 2013. Ballachulish will now anxiously wait on news on Lorne Brown and their captain Alan Clark who picked up injuries in the game. John MacLeod was the match referee.
