Glenurquhart Boss Henderson Looking For One More Point. | |
06 September 2011 Glenurquhart second team manager Steven Henderson says his side is looking for one more point to be sure of staying in the league following his team’s 3-1 defeat to Skye Camanachd in their Marine Harvest North Division 2 meeting at Pairc nan Laoch, Portree on Saturday 3 September 2011. Speaking to Cuillin FM’s Saturday Sports Show after the game, Henderson said, “I thought we got off to a good start and we scored a good goal but then we gave away two scrappy goals. At the start of the second half we played quite well and we stifled the Skye attack a lot of the time but we couldn’t clear our lines for their third goal.” “We haven’t played in a few weeks and we were a lot of bodies short today from the side we could have had out. We have three or four boys who are out for the season through injury and there were boys who couldn’t get off work today. We were stretched to the limit so we built strong from the back.” “We can’t complain though as we’ve had a few good years and we’ve won the league the last couple of years. We’ve also won the Strathdearn and been in the final of the Sutherland but we are going through a rocky patch just now. We lost some younger boys at the start of the season and some others have moved up to the first team so we are rebuilding at the moment.” When asked about another good season for the Glenurquhart first team, Henderson said, “Our first team boys have worked very hard. You only get out of this game what you put in and we are now an established Premier Division side.” Henderson is looking to pick up at least one more point as several clubs battle against relegation. “We are not technically safe yet, he said. “We have away games against Kinlochshiel and Kilmallie and we need a point from these two games. There’s nothing between the bottom five or six teams in this league so it could be a nervous couple of games.” |
