Somhairle MacDonald Looking To Build On Win. | |
25 June 2011 Skye Camanachd captain Somhairle MacDonald hopes to see his side build on their 3-1 Marine Harvest North Division 1 win over Strathglass at Pairc nan Laoch, Portree on Saturday 18 June 2011. Speaking to the Cuillin FM Saturday Sports Show after the game, MacDonald said, “We made it a little more difficult for ourselves than it needed to be. Strathglass gave us a tough game, particularly in the second half, but I think we did enough in the first half to deserve the two points today.” “We have a light forward line with four small guys but we used that to our advantage and moved the ball around well and spread the Strathglass defence. That was the instruction from Aonghas and Ross before the game and, miracle of miracles, we managed it today in the first half especially although we did tire a bit in the second half.” MacDonald took positives from the win saying, “We had more efforts on goal than last week and we’ve found that little bit of sharpness. That’s the first time we have scored more than two goals in a game all season so that’s something we are looking to build on.” Looking ahead, the Skye talisman said, “The win takes us up to fourth place in the league and we are pleased with that although we are aware that the teams round about us have games in hand. It’s up to us now to kick on from this result today from what has been a poor start to the season. But hopefully that result, and in particular that first half performance, can give us confidence for a couple of tough local derbies to come over the next two weeks.” |
