Strathglass Manager Brian MacKay Praises Players’ Second Half Performance. | |
25 June 2011 Strathglass first team manager Brian MacKay praised his side for their second half performance in their 3-1 Marine Harvest North Division 1 defeat to Skye Camanachd at Pairc nan Laoch, Portree on Saturday 18 June 2011. Speaking to the Cuillin FM Saturday Sports Show after the game, MacKay said, “Our second half performance was much better than the first. We just didn’t start early enough and by the time we did, Skye were 3-0 in front. It was a much better performance in the second half though but not starting well and an inability to finish when we get in front of goal has unfortunately been the story of our season so far.” MacKay was asked about the players he has had to do without this season and he said, “Losing Scott Douglas so early on in the season was a big blow to us and what makes it hard for us to take is that it was an off the ball incident and the boy breaks his leg. It was unfortunate but that’s the way it goes but he won’t play again for us this season and he has only just gone back to work. Losing Michael Stokes, who is away for 6 months, is another blow and they were both two young, influential players. Even today, the Highland Cross is on at home and we have four players away doing that. It’s not an excuse but it is a national event and maybe that should be recognised by the Camanachd Association.” “We have Lochcarron next week and we have to start taking something from these games. We are at the bottom of the table, level on points with a couple of other sides, and we don’t know how this league will go in terms of relegation.” |
