24 May 2011 The Skye Camanachd U14 side beat Lochaber U14 9-1 in their Local League match at Spean Bridge on Thursday 19 May 2011. Skye Camanachd took the lead through wing forward Angie Grant whilst buckshee forward Will Cowie made it 2-0. Grant and Cowie each scored again to make it 4-0 before an Ally MacCrimmon goal gave Skye a 5-0 lead at the break. Skye scored the goal of the match shortly into the second half. Angie Grant found Caitlin MacLean and she passed to Alex MacDonald on the Skye right. MacDonald crossed the ball into the danger area where Will Cowie dummied the cross which allowed Angie Grant to race in and complete his hat-trick. Will Cowie was next to grab a hat-trick when he made it 7-0. Skye coach Willie Cowie introduced younger players James Pringle and John Gillies early in the second half and they did well in attack. Indeed it was James Pringle who was on target to add Skye’s eighth and ninth goals. Lochaber had a chance to pull a goal back from the penalty spot but Raymond Gilles saved Stuart Matheson’s effort. However they did get a consolation goal moments later when they were awarded a second penalty and this time Stuart Matheson made no mistake when he made it 9-1. Skye have now enjoyed convincing away wins against both Local League opponents Kinlochshiel and Lochaber, scoring nine goals on each occasion, which puts them in a strong position with two home matches remaining.
