Memory Lane – Season 1989 / 90 – Part 31 | |
14 December 2010 North Division 1 Newtonmore 0 Kingussie 6 There was to be no fairy-tale ending to the season for Skye Camanachd as Kingussie retained their North Division 1 title with a 6-0 win over Newtonmore at the Eilan. Kingussie went into the game without the suspended Dave Borthwick and Kevin Thain who picked up a knee injury in the draw in Portree against Skye. Full centre Jimmy Gow was also missing through injury. Kingussie pushed defender Stephen Borthwick into attack to replace Thain and it proved to be an inspired move as he netted a hat-trick on 9, 30 and 48 minutes. Angus McIssac also scored a first half double to put Kingussie 4-0 up at the break. Kingussie’s sixth goal was a late strike from 18 year old Ally Borthwick. The championship trophy was presented to Kingussie captain and keeper Ian Anderson by Camanachd Association Development Committee Chairman John MacLean. |
