Glenurquhart Announce 2010 Young Player of the Year. | |
02 December 2010 Glenurquhart have announced that Kelvin MacKenzie is their 2010 Young Player of the Year. Kelvin MacKenzie has come up through the youth ranks at Glenurquhart and the 17 year old made his debut for their first team this season. He played for the successful Glen U14 side of 2008 and, along with his team mate Ewan Menzies; he was named in the North U14 side which beat the South U14 side 10-0 at the Dell, Kingussie that year. MacKenzie scored twice in the impressive victory which secured the Fraser MacPhee Memorial Cup. MacKenzie has established himself in the Glenurquhart second team which won the 2010 Strathdearn Cup, scoring both goals in the 2-1 victory over Lovat in the final. He also made a substitute appearance for this year’s North U17 side which beat the South U17 team 10-1. As in 2008, this game was also played at the Dell, Kingussie, and MacKenzie was again amongst the scorers. MacKenzie beat off the challenge of U14 starlet Ewan Brady, who has also put in some impressive performances for Glenurquhart and the North U14 side this season, to win the Glenurquhart’s Young Player of the Year award. The award was presented to MacKenzie at the club’s recent successful Annual Dinner Dance. |
