Portree High School Senior Inter-House Competition. | |
07 November 2010 Inter-House shinty continues to be a big success at Portree High School with the seniors now taking their turn following the first and second year tournaments. Blaven started off the competition before the October Holidays with a 5-0 thumping of Tianavaig meaning Blaven’s Shaun Headley and Will Cowie held the bragging rights over Jordan Murchison and Chris MacLennan from Tianavaig, although “T” were let down when some of their fringe players didn’t turn up. Glamaig met Marsco on Friday 5 November 2010 and they played out an absolute thriller with Glamaig eventually winning 5-4 after they had taken an early 2-0 lead. Marsco roared back, aided by a couple of own goals and a Martin Bruce strike. However Scott MacDonald showed pace and skill to take the game away from “M” and Calum Gibb closed out the scoring with a cracking drive which would have pleased his father Charlie if he had been there. Connor Henderson impressed for Marsco. One of the main aspects of this competition is the inclusion of players who have little experience of shinty or who have not played in a while. John "Raasay" Gillies and Craig "Elgol" MacKinnon both looked comfortable for M whilst Kevin Munsie and Orrin McDonnell did well for Glamaig. Jordan Murchison was the match referee. |
