The Shinty Round Up – Saturday 16 October 2010. | |
17 October 2010 The final league fixture of the shinty season took place on Saturday 16 October 2010. Glenurquhart and Kingussie met at Blairbeg with little more than pride at stake. An under-strength Kingussie started the game with Ronald Ross in defence but it was the home side who got off to a great start when Callum Miler fired them ahead after just 2 minutes. The Glen went on to enjoy the best of the first half but were unable to add to their lead. An injury to Thomas Borthwick forced a reshuffle in the Kingussie pack at the start of the second half with Ronald Ross taking the youngster’s place in attack. The switch soon paid dividends as Ross netted on 51 minutes to square the match. However Glenurquhart regained the lead just 6 minutes later when Neale Reid, who found the back of the net 4 times for the Glen’s second string last weekend, scored to put his side 2-1 ahead. There was no further scoring so Jim Barr’s Glenurquhart side finishes the season in a creditable sixth place in the league whilst Kingussie are third. |
