2010 Scottish Hydro Camanachd Cup Final………….4 Days to Go. | |
14 September 2010 The Scottish Hydro Camanachd Cup Final between Kingussie and Fort William takes place at the Bught Park Inverness on Saturday 18 September 2010. Both sides will have an eye on their injury situations ahead of shinty’s top day. Kingussie manager Stevie Borthwick spoke of his concerns on Cuillin FM’s breakfast show on Monday 13 September 2010. “We picked up a few injuries in the win over Lovat,” said Borthwick. “That seems to be the story of our season so far as we’ve hardly seen a week go by when we haven’t picked up an injury. Of course now that we are in the final, everyone will want to play but there is a bit of a doubt over 3 players. Paul Gow has a rib injury and we’ll know in the next few days how he is. Ricky Grant also picked up an injury and we regard him as a key player for us as he is full of running and that is what we need against a side like Fort William. We won’t know for a couple of days whether he will make it. Ally MacLeod is another who picked up an injury and he has had injury problems all year so there is a doubt over him too. He is one of our more experienced players and we don’t have that many experienced players on the park at the moment.” Fort William manager Peter MacIntyre was boosted by Bryan Simpson’s return to action in the crucial 3-1 win over Oban Camanachd following a 5 week lay-off with a broken wrist. Simpson played well in the game, scored his side’s opening goal and doesn’t seem to be showing any Ill-effects from the injury. However it looks as if the game has come too soon for speedy forward Drew Ferguson who has not yet recovered from a broken ankle. The Scottish Hydro Camanachd Cup Final at the Bught Park, Inverness throws up at 2.20pm. Admission for a fantastic day’s shinty is £10 and £5 for concessions. The final will also be shown live on BBC2 Scotland where coverage starts at 2pm. Iain Anderson and Hugh Dan MacLennan are the match commentators. |
