Ronald Ross Looking For Camanachd Cup Revenge! | |
21 July 2010 Kingussie talisman Ronald Ross is looking forward to chance to get revenge after his Kingussie side were once again drawn against Kyles Athletic in the semi finals of the 2010 Scottish Hydro Camanachd Cup. The semi final draw was made at the Bught Park, Inverness on Wednesday 21 July 2010 by Scottish Hydro’s Sponsorship Account Manager, Douglas Flowers, and Inverness East, Nairn and Lochaber MSP, Fergus Ewing. The draw produced two North v South clashes. Inveraray will play Fort William and Kyles Athletic were drawn against Kingussie in a repeat of last season’s controversial semi final. The match was originally fixtured for An Aird but was switched to Jubilee Park in Ballachulish. The match was eventually abandoned due to worsening weather conditions with Kingussie leading 4-1. Kyles won the replay. “There’s a bit of history between the sides,” said Ross, “but the draw gives us the chance for revenge. We felt aggrieved that the semi final was abandoned last year when we were 4-1 up. However Kyles won the replay fair and square and went on to the final. We are desperate to get back to the Camanachd Cup Final as we haven’t been there for a couple of years. We are obviously going through a transition this season but our younger players have done well. We are really looking forward to the tie and hope it will be a good game.” The semi-final ties are scheduled for Saturday 7 August 2010 and the venues have yet to be announced. The Scottish Hydro Camanachd Cup Final takes place on Saturday 18 September 2010 at the Bught Park, Inverness. |
