06 July 2010 Kinlochshiel A retained the Inverness Sixes Jubilee Shield following a competitive day’s shinty at the Bught Park, Inverness on Saturday 3 July 2010. Whilst the Premier League sides were participating in the Marine Harvest Premier Sixes in Fort William, many of the remaining shinty sides headed for the Bught Park to take part in a shinty event which has been taking place since Glenurquhart won the inaugural tournament in 1977. Reigning champions Kinlochshiel started as favourites and the MacRae boys were always likely to play a pivotal to their challenge. Kinlochshiel had an impressive 5-1 semi final win over Beauly following the league stages. Caberfeidh beat an Aberdeen University side, which featured former Skye Camanachd players Kenny MacLeod and Kieran Roberts, 3-0 in the other semi final. Kinlochshiel were 2-0 victors over Caberfeidh in the final and Keith MacRae won the player of the tournament award for the second consecutive season. A total of 18 teams took part in the popular tournament. |
