The Marine Harvest Premier Sixes - Clash of the Camans takes place at An Aird on Saturday 3 July 2010.
Marine Harvest’s Business Support Manager Steve Bracken is looking forward to the day, ‘We are excited with the new format which is very different from our previous festival of shinty. We hope this will be a popular event and something we can repeat in the future to support shinty and raise money for charity.’
Camanachd Association President Duncan Cameron is equally enthusiastic, saying, ‘Shinty has a history of great 6-a-side competitions, so I am confident that bringing the format to the Marine Harvest event will be an excellent spectacle for spectators in Fort William and at home watching it on BBC Alba.’
BBC Alba will be broadcasting live the semi-finals and final of this weekend’s Marine Harvest Premier 6’s along with live coverage of the Women’s Premier Select North v South match.
The programme will air from 3.30pm, with the first semi-final taking place at 3.40pm, followed by the second semi at 4pm. The Women’s match will take place at 4.20pm with the final of the Premier 6’s tournament at 4.50pm.
The programme will also be available to watch again via the BBC’s iPlayer.
Also taking place on the day at An Aird will be a local schools tournament at 10.30am and the final of the Primary Schools World Cup between Beauly and Newtonmore at 3.10pm.
The event is free to enter and gates will open at 10.30am.
Marine Harvest’s Salmon BBQ will be on site with all proceeds going to their chosen charities, Maggie’s Cancer Care Centres and the John Hartson Testicular Cancer Awareness and Support Foundation.
