Portree Primary School 3 Beauly 0. | |
05 June 2010 Portree Primary School are through to the MacKay Cup third round following their 3-0 win over Beauly at Pairc nan Laoch, Portree on Friday 4 June 2010. This was a tough match for Portree who previously played Beauly in the First Shinty National Indoor Sixes Final in Inverness and narrowly beat them by a golden goal. A first half Jonathan Laing double gave the reigning champions a 2-0 lead at the break. The second half was a more even affair but Stewart Taylor finished off a sweeping move late in the game when he slammed the ball low into the net to clinch a 3-0 victory. Portree were well served by 2 goal Laing, James Pringle and defenders Donald Nicolson and Niall McHugh. Caitlin MacLean looked assured throughout. Stewart Taylor was always creative on the right wing against an older opponent. Beauly were never out of the game. They had their share of possession in the second half without creating many clear-cut chances. Their defence was well marshaled by full back Andrew Morrison and keeper Craig Rankin made a couple of top class saves. The Beauly side is coached by Ian Morrison who kept goal for Portree Primary School when they won the MacKay Cup for the first time in 1974.
