Ewen Morrison owned his own transport business and provided transport for Skye Camanachd for much of the 1970s. He provided a bus and drove the team to away matches all over Scotland. Indeed during one particularly lean financial period for the club, he refused to submit a single invoice for 3 years.

Ewen belonged to Drumuie, just outside Portree where his family were crofters for many generations. Travelling with Ewen was an education and entertainment wrapped up in one. He had a fund of local history and Gaelic anecdote which he was more than happy to recount, and equally large repertoire of Gaelic songs which he liked to sing as he drove along.

His son Alasdair Morrison played for Skye Camanachd during this period.

Ewen passed away in August 1981, aged 71 years and he is a much missed and famous figure in Skye Camanachd’s history. The Ewen Morrison Memorial Cup is played in his honour each year. It used to involve a summer contest between Bernisdale, North End, Portree and South End but since the introduction of summer shinty, it has been a pre-season clash between North Skye and South Skye.

The 2009 Ewen Morrison Cup was won by the South as they defeated the North 5-1 on Saturday 21 February 2009.
