The Skye Camanachd U17s beat Glenurquhart U17s 4-1 in their London Shield match at Pairc nan Laoch, Portree on Tuesday 14 June 2011.
Skye went into their second North Section game without the injured Jordan Murchison who was rested ahead of the MacTavish Juvenile Cup Final in Inverness on 18 June 2011.
Glenurquhart had a strong backbone to their team and in Fraser Heath and Ewan Brady; they had two players who have experienced first team shinty with Glenurquhart in the Scottish Hydro Premier Division and Glengarry in Marine Harvest North Division 2.
Glenurquhart started brightly and they took Skye by surprise when they scored within the first 10 minutes. Shaun Sloggie played the ball from midfield to Ewan Brady who sent an overhead flick into the path of the unchallenged Connor Golabek and he blasted the ball into the roof of the Skye net from 20 yards.
Skye took time to get into the game and they started to make several good openings but their finishing did not match the build-up play.
Skye conjured up an equaliser midway through the half when Angie MacPherson sent a superb cross-field pass into the path of Will Cowie who had time to pick his spot before sending a blistering drive past Cameron MacLennan in the Glen goal to make it 1-1.
Despite Skye creating further openings towards the end of the first half, visiting keeper Cameron MacLennan kept the score-line level with saves from Magnus Burd and Andrew Grant.
The introduction of John Gillies at wing forward in place of Andrew Grant gave the Skye forward line added impetus in the second half as they began to create further chances.
The Skye centre line also took command and 10 minutes into the half, Will Cowie scored his second goal from close range after being set up by Magnus Burd.
Midway through the half Cowie went on to complete his hat trick with another scorching drive from 20 yards after neat work by Angie MacPherson.
Will Cowie completed the scoring with a trade mark back handed drive from 15 yards with Angie MacPherson again the provider.
In the end this was a comfortable win against a Glen team with a very strong spine and it was achieved without top goal scorer Jordan Murchison.
However the edge was taken off the win when it was later announced that four goal Will Cowie had suffered a broken thumb in the closing minutes of the game.
