Scotland Boss McNeil Suffers Third Squad Withdrawal. | |
27 October 2011 Scotland Head Coach Drew McNeil has suffered a third squad withdrawal ahead of the Marine Harvest Shinty / Hurling international against Ireland at the Bught Park, Inverness on Saturday 29 October 2011. Following on from the loss of Kyles Athletic’s Grant Irvine through injury and Fort William’s Niall MacPhee because of work commitments, Kyles Athletic defender Donald Irvine has now been forced to withdraw because of a knock picked up in the first test. Irvine has been given every opportunity to prove his fitness but he has been forced to admit defeat. His absence means that Lochcarron’s Mark Sproule is called up to the squad – he had been on the stand-by list. Sproule joins Skye Camanachd’s Somhairle MacDonald, who was called up ahead of the first test, and Bute’s Iain MacDonald as additions to the original squad. The second test between Scotland and Ireland takes place at the Bught Park, Inverness on Saturday 29 October 2011. The match starts at 2pm and, if you are unable to make the game, it will be shown live on BBC2 Scotland starting at 1.45pm. The second test will be preceded by the meeting between the Scotland U21 and Ireland U21 sides who clash at 12 noon. The day’s sporting feast begins with a Challenge Shinty / Camogie match between Scotland and the British Universities side and this starts at 10.30am.
