Ireland U21 Cap Wins 2011 Christy Ring Player of the Year Award - UPDATED! | |
24 October 2011 Ireland U21 cap Shane Nolan has been named winner of the Christy Ring Player of the Year Award at the Opel GAA / GPA All-Star awards at Dublin's Dockside Convention Centre. Family and friends were there to see the young Crotta O'Neills club man pick up the coveted and well deserved award. Nolan received the award in recognition of his outstanding performances in the Christy Ring Cup this year, which Kerry won. He starred for Crotta in their recent county hurling championship final defeat to Ballyduff and he also had a super year with the Kerry All-Ireland U-21 B winning side, where he received the man of the match award.
The Kerry hurler travels to the Bught Park, Inverness this weekend to take part in the Marine Harvest Shinty / Hurling international between Scotland U21 and Ireland U21. Kilkenny’s Michael Finney was named Hurler of the Year the Young Hurler of the Year is Liam Rushe from Dublin. The second test will be preceded by the meeting between the Scotland U21 and Ireland U21 sides who clash at 12 noon. The day’s sporting feast begins with a Challenge Shinty / Camogie match between Scotland and the British Universities side and this starts at 10.30am.
