Scotland U21 Head Coach Donnie Martin has selected a 19 man squad for the Marine Harvest Shinty / Hurling international against Ireland U21 at the Bught Park, Inverness on Saturday 29 October 2011.
There are ten changes to the squad which lost narrowly to the Irish last year. Mark MacDonald of Kinlochshiel, Beauly duo Conor Cormack and David MacLean, Kilmallie’s Liam Cameron, Callum Cruden of Lovat, Kingussie’s Thomas Borthwick, Zander Ferguson from Lochaber, Neale Reid from Glenurquhart and Bute’s Leighton Reid come into the squad for the first time whilst there is a recall for Skye Camanachd’s Iain Nicolson who missed out last year through injury.
They replace Stuart MacDonald of Lovat, Newtonmore trio Owen Fraser, Rory Kennedy and Steven MacDonald, Scott MacMillan from Oban Camanachd, Robbie MacLeod of Kyles Athletic (who has been promoted to the senior squad) Alistair MacKintosh from Glenurquhart, Kilmallie’s Michael Rodger and Thomas Whyte from Kyles Athletic. Lochcarron’s Calum Finlayson is also missing because of work commitments.
Lovat are the most represented club with four players - Daniel Grieve, Drew Howie, Callum Cruden and James MacPherson - in a squad captained by Kinlochshiel’s John MacRae.
Kyles Athletic’s Malcolm Miller and Bute’s Leighton Reid are the only South players included by Head Coach Donnie Martin and his assistants Ted MacDonald and Dave Stafford.
