2011 North U17 v South U17 - Squads Named. | |
27 September 2011 The squads have been announced for the annual meeting between the North U17 and South U17 which this year takes place at Taynuilt on Sunday 2 October 2011. The match takes place following the U14 North v South meeting for the Fraser MacPhee Memorial Cup and throw up will be at 3pm. The North U17 squad inludes only three players who were in the side who beat the South U17 last year; Glenurquhart’s Fraser Heath (who then played for Inverness) and Beauly duo Scott MacLeod and Jack MacDonald. However the South U17 pool includes no fewer that eight players who played last year; keeper Innes MacDonald from Kyles Athletic, Alex Dunnings from Oban Camanachd, Inveraray’s Lewis MacNicol, Aberdour player Alec Mitchell as well as Glasgow Mid Argyll trio Finlay MacMillan, Craig Anderson and Ryan Harrison and Oban Celtic’s Gary McKerracher who makes his third appearance at this level. Camanachd Association National Development Officer Ronald Ross said, “The coaches across both U14 squads and both U17 squads have had some tough choices to make in selecting the 2011 squads. There is undoubtedly an abundance of talent out there. It is also especially pleasing to see the progression a number of players have made from U14, to U17 and then to the U21 national squad over the past few years, so the importance of this event to a player’s pathway is clear to see.” The squads are; North U17 Squad Coach: Russell Jones
