Skye Boss Aonghas MacDonald Happy With Performance From Understrength Side. | |
24 August 2011 Skye first team manager Aonghas MacDonald said he was happy his understrength side’ performance following their 5-1 defeat to new Marine Harvest North Division 1 champions Kinlochshiel at Pairc nan Laoch, Portree on Saturday 20 August 2011. Speaking to the Cuillin FM Saturday Sports Show after the game, MacDonald said, “From Skye’s perspective, I was quite happy with our performance today. We had eight players missing and it has been five weeks since we last had a game so I was delighted with our performance. We could easily have got another goal or two at points in the game.” Turning to newly crowned league champions Kinlochshiel, MacDonald said, “Credit to Kinlochshiel. They deserved to win the league this year, that’s for sure. But from our perspective, I wasn’t disappointed at all. It would have been interesting if we had our full team out against their full team. That would have made for a good game.” The list of call-offs forced the introduction of several younger players and they didn’t disappoint the Skye boss. “I was delighted with Iain Grant who came on in defence for 25 minutes at the end and did very well. Ally MacDonald, Jordan Murchison and Danny Morrison have also come into the team and they did exceptionally well under the circumstances.” Turning his thoughts to Skye’s final match of the season against Caberfeidh on Saturday 10 September 2011, the Skye manager said, “The Cabers game will really be preparation for next season as we’ll look to give more of the younger boys a game. In fact if we didn’t have such a large number of players, then we would really be struggling given the number of guys we’ve had had missing this season. But credit to the guys who came in today, they did very well.” |
