The Dublin Diaries - Part 12. | |
29 July 2011 Follow the Scotland U17 squad on their 2011 tour of Ireland. The young Scots showed that they had learnt from their previous night's defeat to Westmeath when they recorded an impressive 23-17 win over Dublin at Parnell Park on Tuesday 26 July 2011. Fraser Heath and Greg Matheson each scored from the 65 yard line to give the Scots an early 4-0 lead and they remained in front for the rest of the game. Scotland led 14-7 at the break with captain Greg Matheson scoring 8 of their points. The young Scots suffered a scare when Dublin cut their lead to 17-16 with only 7 minutes remaining before late goals from Jordan Murchison and Craig Anderson sealed the win. Scotland keeper Jack Fraser was in excellent form throughout the game and his fine saves were admired by the Irish crowd. Ben Dalgety and Mike Russell were also strong at the back. Captain Greg Matheson was probably Scotland's most consistant player over the two games and he accumulated 18 points during the tour. Ewan Brady really caught the eye against Dublin and he was probably Scotland's top player in the game. The Scotland scorers were; Greg Matheson (8), Gary McKerracher (4), Craig Anderson (4), Ewan Brady (4), Jordan Murchison (3). A full match report will follow. |
