The Dublin Diaries - Part 8. | |
26 July 2011 Follow the Scotland U17 squad on their 2011 tour of Ireland. The Scots go down to a 21-19 defeat to Westmeath in their match at the Mallinger County Stadium on Monday 25 July 2011 in a game which was really lost in the first half. Two points from Greg Matheson got the Scots off to a good start but a strong Irish side, inspired by minor player Robbie Greville, fought back to lead 13-4 at the break. Seamus Curtis from the Irish County Board had warned that Westmeath were a of a higher standard than teams normally faced at this stage in the tour and he was proved correct. However the Scots produced a great second half performance before eventually going down 21-19. There were chances to secure at least a draw in the closing minutes but it wasn't to be. The Scotland scorers were; Greg Matheson (10), Jordan Murchison (3), Fraser Heath (2), Stuart Callison (2), Jack MacDonald (2). |
