Skye Boss MacVicar Disappointed To Lose Semi Final. | |
17 July 2011 Skye Camanachd second team manager Davie MacVicar was disappointed following his team’s Aberdein Considine Sutherland Cup 6-2 defeat to Kingussie in their semi final meeting at Craigard, Invergarry on Saturday 9 July 2011. . Speaking to Cuillin FM’s Saturday Sports Show after the game MacVicar said, “Well it was always going to be difficult going into the game without three of our four first choice forwards. I felt we had enough ball up there to score more than the two goals we did get. We tried to carry the ball too much at times when we had the ball up front and we weren’t direct enough and we didn’t test their keeper enough.” Reflecting on how the game went, the Skye boss said, “We suffered a blow early in the game when Scott MacLeod had to come off. He was affected by the heat and we had to reshuffle the defence. Too often when the defence was turned by the Kingussie forwards, the ball was fed in to Kevin Thain and that created opportunities and goals for them.” “We also didn’t pick up enough of the loose balls in midfield and Greg MacRae went flat out for them in the first half. However you don’t get to a semi final every week so it is disappointing to lose the game.” |
