Skye Boss MacDonald Pleased With Forwards. | |
07 July 2011 Skye Camanachd first team manager Aonghas MacDonald was pleased with his forwards as his side ran out 10-4 winners in their Marine Harvest North Division 1 clash with Lochcarron at Pairc nan Laoch, Portree on Saturday 2 July 2011. Speaking to the Cuillin FM Saturday Sports Show after the game, MacDonald said, “Things went our way today to be honest and we scored the kind of goals that we haven’t scored all season. We made the breaks and I’m delighted with the performance although a little disappointed that we don’t do this every week.” “We have been under-performing all season and today we showed flickers of what we can do. I was a bit disappointed to lose four goals but you can’t really complain when you score ten times. We were a bit sloppy at the back and made some simple mistakes that we just shouldn’t be making. However our defence has won a lot of games for us this season but today our forwards won us the game, that’s for sure. Usually when you lose four goals, you have little chance of winning the game but to score ten goals is fantastic and I don’t know the last time the first team scored ten goals.” “There were some nice goals, they were well taken and we looked sharp. I have to give the four forwards credit and the centres as well worked away quite hard through-out the game as the Lochcarron centre line are very strong. We did what we planned to do, and more to be honest. I’m delighted for the guys and they are ecstatic with that this afternoon.” Looking ahead to next weekend, the Skye boss said, “Lochaber at Spean Bridge will be a very difficult game next week and it will be a different match to this one. We’ll look forward to it and we’ve got nothing to lose really. We are just going from week to week so we’ll look forward to it and then look forward to heading for Invergarry afterwards to cheer on the second team in the Aberdein Considine Cup semi final tie against Kingussie.” |
