2011 MacTavish Juvenile Cup Final Preview. | |
17 June 2011 The Skye Camanachd and Lochaber juvenile sides meet at the Bught Park, Inverness on Saturday 18 June 2011 to contest the MacTavish Juvenile Cup Final. Lochaber are current holders of the trophy although there have been several changes to their side from last year with the likes of Danny Delaney, Brennan MacDonald, Connor Sweeney and Stuart Callison no longer eligible. However they do have Lochaber first team keeper Calum MacDonald between the sticks and they will also rely on players such as Barry MacDonald and Jack Dignan in defence and Patrick Toal in midfield as well as Scott Knox, Duncan MacKinnon and Stuart Matheson up front and they have been amongst the goals already this season. Skye Camanachd have not won this trophy since 2005 although they won the London Shield in 2009, and only lost out to Lochaber in last year’s London Shield Final after a penalty shoot-out. The Skye team have lost four players from last year with Martin Bruce, Scott MacLeod, Daniel Morrison and Paul MacKinnon all now ineligible. However they have Skye Camanachd first team regular Shaun Hedley in their side as well as first team fringe players Jordan Murchison and Iain Grant. The Islanders received a blow with the news that Will Cowie suffered a broken thumb towards the end of their London Shield victory over Glenurquhart earlier in the week. Skye won that match 4-1 and Cowie scored all four goals. David Mitchell is the match referee and throws up is at 11.30am. |
