MacTavish Juvenile Cup Final Preview. | |
16 June 2011 The Skye Camanachd and Lochaber juvenile sides meet at the Bught Park, Inverness on Saturday 18 June 2011 to contest the MacTavish Juvenile Cup Final. Lochaber are current holders of the trophy although there have been several changes from last year’s team with the likes of Danny Delaney, Brennan MacDonald, Connor Sweeney and Stuart Callison no longer eligible. However they do have Lochaber first team keeper Calum MacDonald between the sticks and they will also rely on players such as Barry MacDonald and Jack Dignan in defence and Patrick Toal in midfield as well as Scott Knox, Duncan MacKinnon and Stuart Matheson - who has been amongst the goals already this season – up front. Skye Camanachd have not won this trophy since 2005 although they won the London Shield in 2009, and only lost out to Lochaber in last year’s final after a penalty shoot-out. The Skye team have lost four players from last year with Martin Bruce, Scot MacLeod, Daniel Morrison and Paul MacKinnon all now ineligible. However they have Skye Camanachd first team regular Shaun Hedley in their side as well as first team fringe players Jordan Murchison and Iain Grant. Ally MacLeod and Chris MacLennan are also important players to the side. Skye suffered a blow when Will Cowie suffered a broken thumb towards the end of their London Shield victory over Glenurquhart earlier in the week. Skye won 4-1 and Cowie scored all four goals. David Mitchell is the match referee and throws up is at 11.30am. |
