16 May 2011 We now know the Co-operative MacTavish Cup and the Glasgow Celtic Society Cup finalists following the semi final ties on Saturday 14 May 2011. Co-operative MacTavish Cup Semi Finals Holders Kingussie eventually ran out 4-3 winners against 2010 runners-up Kilmallie at the Dell. A Ronald Ross hat-trick helped Kingussie to a 4-1 lead with only 8 minutes remaining. Late goals from Michael Rodger and John Stewart ensured a nervy finish for the Kings but they held on to reach the final once again. Fort William secured their place in the final with a 3-1 win over Newtonmore at the Eilan. Two goals in the last 12 minutes from Bryan Simpson and John MacDonald ensured a visit to the Bught Park to play Kingussie on June 18 2011. Glasgow Celtic Society Cup Semi Finals Doubles from Aidan MacIntyre and Scott MacMillan helped Oban Camanachd to a 5-2 win at Taynuilt. Holders Inveraray went down 4-1 to Kyles Athletic at the Winterton in a repeat of last year’s final. Dunkie Kerr grabbed a brace. Balliemore Cup Quarter Finals Holders Kinlochshiel are out of this year’s competition after going down 3-2 to Caberfeidh at Castle Leod. Caberfeidh’s Martin MacDonald, who only recently suffered a broken finger, got the winner. 2008 winners Skye Camanachd went down to an 8-0 defeat to Beauly at Braeview Park. Sean Stewart grabbed a hat-trick. A Robert Walker treble gave Bute a 3-0 win over Ballachulish on Rothesay. Lochaber’s Ben Delaney was in scintillating form as Lochaber beat Lochcarron 7-1 at Spean Bridge. Delaney scored four of his side’s goals. Scottish Hydro Premier Division Glenurquhart go level on points with third place Newtonmore following their 1-0 win over Glenorchy at Blairbeg. The sides were only separated by a 15 minute Neale Reid penalty. Marine Harvest South Division 1 Glasgow Mid Argyll beat Aberdour 3-2 in Fife. Andy Mathie, Patrick Jameson and Craig Anderson scored for the visitors whilst a Seb Mercer double counted for the home side. A last minute Daniel MacKinnon goal gave Lochside Rovers a 3-2 win over Kyles Athletic meet in Oban Early strikes from David Duffy and David Hill gave Oban Celtic a 2-0 win at Kilmory. Marine Harvest North Division 2 League leaders Glengarry lost 3-2 to reigning champions Glenurquhart for the second consecutive Saturday. Andrew MacDonald got the winner 15 minutes from time. Garry’s defeat allowed Newtonmore the chance to return to the top of the table and they took it with a 3-1 win over third place Fort William at An Aird. Chris Sellar scored twice for the visitors. Bottom side Kilmallie went down 4-3 to third bottom Kinlochshiel to the Canal Parks. Stuart MacRae netted the winning goal just 11 minutes from time. Russell Menzies bagged a brace as Kingussie beat Lochaber 5-2 in their noon throw up at Spean Bridge. A late goal from new signing Graeme MacMillan gave Lovat a 3-2 win over Skye Camanachd at Balgate. Marine Harvest South Division 2 Table toppers Strachur enjoyed a 6-0 home win over fifth place Ballachulish. Angus Campbell scored twice whilst Duncan MacNicol, Davie Wilson, Kevin Nairn and Ross MacDonald got the others. Aberdour went down 5-1 at home to Glasgow Mid Argyll in their noon throw up in Fife. Allan Brunton and Donald Colville each scored doubles and Elliot Moir got the other. Cameron MacCue was on target for the home side. The match of the day in this division would have been second place Tayforth at home to third place Bute but the match was postponed because of an unplayable field. The 12 noon throw up between Inveraray and Col Glen was also postponed as the Winterton was unplayable. Marine Harvest North Division 3 There was an historic match at Shawbost as Lewis Camanachd played their first home match against Lochbroom. A large crowd of over 200 turned out for the game but it was Lochbroom who returned home with the points following a 7-1 win. Sandy Urquhart, Josh Talbot and Jamie MacFadyen scored twice for the visitors. League leaders Aberdeen University have now completed the first half of their league programme with a 100% record following their 6-0 home win over Inverness. David Fraser grabbed a hat-trick for the Students. Two goals in the last 10 minutes from Robbie Tuach and Andrew Fraser helped Beauly to a 3-1 win over Caberfeidh at Cannich. Lochcarron were unable to raise a team for the second successive Saturday. Therefore the points are awarded to opponents Boleskine. |
