08 May 2011 Camanachd Association Chief Operating Officer Torquil MacLeod was an interested spectator at Skye Camanachd’s 1-0 Marine Harvest North Division 1 win over Inverness at Pairc nan Laoch, Portree on Saturday 30 April 2011. Speaking to the Cuillin FM Saturday Sports Show after the game, MacLeod said he enjoyed the match. “It was really exciting and the game could have gone either way,” he said. MacLeod was also complementary of the facilities at Pairc nan Laoch. “The facilities look fantastic with a big clubhouse and great pitch. We have discussed using this venue for cup finals and it would certainly be an appropriate place to host something.” On the many things going on at present at the Camanachd Association, MacLeod offered this insight, “We have been busy preparing for the recent AGM, we’ve appointed Russell Jones as North Development Officer and Ronald Ross has been busy in Aberdeen and around the country. Fund raising is also an important part of our work and there has been a lot of work on a Strategic Plan for the game of shinty. This will give a clear vision for the game and it’s all about improving standards within the game to produce a better product as well as increasing over-all participation. We will look to strengthening our infra-structure as well as improving players and recruiting and retaining volunteers. The volunteers’ situation is one we received feedback on at our Roadshow visits around the country.” |
