Four Skye finalists will head for the Gilmour Sports First Shinty Festival in Fort William On Saturday 26 February 2011.
Portree and South Skye represent Skye the P5 & Under tournament whilst Portree and North End fly the flag in the P7 & Under tournament.
Portree and South Skye qualified from the Skye Festival held at Portree High School on Tuesday 8 February 2011. Portree won that competition beating Portree B 3-2 in the final thanks to a Ryan MacAskill hat-trick. As well as MacAskill, the Portree team included keeper Jamie Gillies, Connor Gilpin, Ross Gordon and Martin Pringle. South Skye reached the semi final stage.
Portree and North End qualified from the Skye Festival held at Portree High School on Wednesday 2 February 2011. Portree edged out South Skye on goal difference to meet North End in the final. Portree took the lead through Angie MacDonald (Sconser). North End enjoyed most of the pressure for the remainder of the game but they were unable to grab an equaliser.
The Skye teams join the best of Primary School First Shinty teams from as far North as Kinlochbervie and as far South as Glasgow to battle it out for the coveted National Title.
The annual Festival sees 12 teams compete in the Primary 5 & Under category including reigning champions Kingussie. A total 13 teams take part in the Primary 7 & Under event.
The Primary 5 & Under competition takes place at the Lochaber High School from 12.30pm and the Primary 7 & Under tournament throws up at 1pm at the Nevis Centre, Fort William.
