22 February 2011 The draw has been made for the preliminary and first rounds of the 2011 Scottish Hydro Camanachd Cup. The draw took place at the Scottish Hydro Headquarters in Perth on Monday 21 February 2011 and was made by Camanachd Association President Duncan Cameron and Scottish Hydro Marketing Project Manager Liam Barn. There will be three preliminary round matches which each pair sides from the north against sides from the south. Strathglass have been given home advantage against Aberdour with the sides drawn to meet in Cannich. Ballachulish have a shorter journey by comparison as they meet Lochaber at Spean Bridge. However Caberfeidh head for Bute to play the side relegated from shinty’s top flight at the end of last season. Ballachulish, Beauly, Glasgow Mid Argyll, Inverness, Kilmory, Kinlochshiel, Lochcarron, Oban Celtic and Skye Camanachd all received byes into the first round. The preliminary round matches will take place on Saturday 2 April 2010. The Scottish hydro Camanachd Cup first round draw also threw up some interesting ties. Inverness will be pleased to have home advantage against Aberdour. Glasgow Mid Argyll will play the winners of the tie between Strathglass and Aberdour at Yoker. Lochcarron make the long journey south to play Kilmory. Oban Celtic will have home advantage against the winners of the tie between Lochaber and Ballachulish. There will be an all Marine Harvest North Division 1 clash at Kirkton between Kinlochshiel and Beauly. The winners of the tie between Bute and Caberfeidh will have home advantage against Skye Camanachd. The first round ties taking place on Saturday 7 May 2011. Thereafter, the winning 6 teams from the first round will go through to join the 10 Scottish Premier Division sides in the Camanachd Cup second round which takes place on Saturday 4 June 2011. The Scottish Hydro Camanachd Cup Final takes place at the Bught Park, Inverness on Saturday 17 September 2011. |
