Skye Camanachd Set For Kingussie Visit. | |
08 February 2011 Skye Camanachd welcomes 2010 Artemis Macaulay Cup and Co-operative MacTavish Cup winners Kingussie to Portree on Saturday 12 February 2011 for the club’s opening friendly match of the season. Kingussie will send a strong squad to Portree. However their captain Ronald Ross will be a noticeable absentee as he has yet to recover from ankle ligament damage sustained in the Shinty / Hurling international against Ireland at the end of last season. However Ross will travel to Portree with the squad. James Hutchison is also unavailable but managers Steve Borthwick and Russell Jones will have all the other usual faces at their disposal. Skye Camanachd manager Aonghas MacDonald and his assistant Ross Cowie watched their squad in action last weekend in the Ewen Morrison Memorial Cup and they know their young charges face a tough test. Skye will be without 2009 captain Kenny Campbell who has moved to Australia and Scotland U21 cap Iain Nicolson who has signed for Scottish Hydro Premier Division side Lovat. However Skye are boosted by the signing of Iain Murray who joins from Glasgow Mid Argyll. Murray missed the second half of last season through injury but he has now returned to fitness and is looking to establish himself in the team following his relocation to Skye. The teams will play for the 2010 Thomas Ferguson which was held over from last season because of the inclement weather. Throw up is at 1.30pm and a large crowd is expected. John Angus Gillies is the match referee. |
