Skye Camanachd have spoken of their anger following vandalism to their Pairc nan Laoch pitch last weekend. Skye Camanachd’s Donnie Martin said, “It looks as if someone deliberately drove a car across the field, leaving tyre marks across the pitch. The damage has been reported to the Police and the club are appealing to anyone with any information to come forward.” “It’s very disappointing,” said Martin. “The Pairc nan Laoch pitch hosts shinty matches from primary school age, through U14 and U17 as well as Skye Camanachd reserve and first team games. The club is run by volunteers and this type of vandalism is mindless.” It looks as if the damage took place around Friday evening - 14 January 2011. However Martin is determined that the Pairc nan Laoch pitch will be ready for the club’s preseason programme which starts on Saturday 5 February 2011. “We’ll get to work on the pitch immediately and ask any volunteers to come up to the shinty pitch on Saturday 22 January 2011 to help with the repair work, especially if they are able to bring a grape with them!” The shinty season proper starts on Saturday 5 March 2011. |
