Memory Lane – Season 1989 / 90 – Part 18. | |
29 November 2010 North Division 3 Kingussie 5 Skye Camanachd 1 The Skye second string took the field against Kingussie without keeper Calum “Colombo” Nicolson who had a knee injury and full back John “Spod” Macleod who was unavailable. The Kingussie side was strengthened by the inclusion of Russell Jones and brothers Ross and Ewen Grant. The first half hour was fairly even but it was the visitors who made the break-through thanks to a strike from wing forward Ally Borthwick. The Kings made it 2-0 just 5 minutes from the break when Ronald Ross fired home. However moments before the break, Skye pulled a goal back when Ally “Mhor” Morison (Portree) escaped the clutches of Ross Grant and he turned neatly to slot the ball home from 10 yards. Whilst the first half was even, Kingussie certainly took a grip of the game in the second period. They took control of the midfield with full centre Ewan Grant dominant. Dallas Young added a couple more goals and Ally Borthwick scored his second to round off an impressive 5-1 win. |
