Superstore Plans For An Aird. | |
25 November 2010 The Oban Times has claimed there are plans to build a superstore at An Aird, the home of Fort William Shinty Club. Edinburgh based company CWP say their £15m plan would bring 300 new jobs to the area and Fort William shinty club would move to a state-of-the-art training and playing facility at one of three yet undisclosed sites in the town. The developers’ proposal suggests that the new location would be attractive to major operators Tesco, ASDA, Co-op and Sainsburys. Director Bruce Weir said, “Should our plans be approved, this would be a win-win for Fort William. The shinty club will get the investment in new facilities it badly needs and a new big name supermarket will bring welcome competition and choice and lower prices for the Fort William shoppers in a location on the edge of the town centre.” Fort William Chairman Richard Gall refused to comment on the suggested proposal.
