Shinty Fixtures Draw To A Close. | |
17 October 2010 The 2010 domestic shinty season drew to a close on Saturday 16 October 2010. This means that the season has finished a whole 2 months earlier than last year when the final league games were played on Saturday 12 December 2009. There is still some shinty for enthusiasts to look forward to though. There are still some outstanding fixtures in the U14 shinty leagues including the crucial North Division 1 meeting between Fort William U14 and Skye Camanachd U14 at An Aird. The London Shield Final between Skye Camanachd U17 and Lochaber U17 takes place at Braeview Park, Beauly on Saturday 13 November 2010. There will also be some Women Camanachd events such as the Schools Girls League. The University shinty season takes place through the winter as usual. There will also be the shinty / hurling double header. The Scots travel to Ireland on Saturday 31 October 2010 whilst the Irish visit to the Bught Park on Saturday 13 November 2010. There is also the New Year’s challenge match between Lovat and Beauly for shinty fans with any withdrawal symptoms. The early domestic finish will give players and officials a decent break ahead of the 2011 campaign with most clubs starting their pre-season preparations at the beginning of February 2011. |
