Skye Camanachd U17 & Lochaber U17 To Meet In 2010 London Shield Final. | |
11 October 2010 Skye Camanachd U17 and Lochaber U17 will meet in the 2010 London Shield Final. Both sides were successful in their respective semi finals on Saturday 9 October 2010. Holders Skye Camanachd U17 made a slow start against Oban Camanachd U17 at An Aird, Fort William. Oban enjoyed the early pressure and the Islanders went ahead against the run of play thanks to a terrific Jordan Murchison strike. Oban leveled through Gavin Lafferty who was a constant threat all afternoon. Skye turned in a much better performance in the second half but only had a Will Cowie strike to show for their efforts. Martin Bruce also had the ball in the net for Skye but his effort was ruled out as one of the Skye forwards had strayed into an off-side position. An own goal in the first 20 seconds got 2009 beaten finalists Glenurquhart U17 off to a great start against Lochaber U17 at Invergarry. However a Duncan MacKinnon goal ensured the sides went into the break all square. The Glen, who were missing Matthew Brady, Arran Barrow and the injured Sam MacLean, regained the lead through Kelvin MacKenzie 10 minutes into the second half and they held this advantage until 15 minutes from time. However a Scott Knox double and a strike from Patrick Toal ensured that Lochaber U17 go through to the final. The date and venue for the final have yet to be confirmed by the Camanachd Association. |
