08 October 2010 The 2010 shinty season is drawing to a close with 5 fixtures set for Saturday 9 October 2010. The final relegation place from the Scottish Hydro Premier Division will be decided this weekend following the meeting between Bute and Oban Camanachd at the Meadows, Rothesay. The Islanders currently hold a one point lead so Oban Camanachd need to win the game to prevent relegation and to stop their second team Lochside Rovers being relegated to Marine Harvest North Division 2. The race to finish in third place also continues and Kingussie meet Inveraray at the Dell. Kingussie’s Ronald Ross serves the second game of his 2 match suspension. Glasgow Mid Argyll and Kyles Athletic meet at Yoker. The visitors will be favourites as they battle it out with Kingussie for third place. The final match in Marine Harvest North Division 1 takes place at Battery Park where Lochcarron host Lochaber. With the league championship decided last weekend, both sides may take the opportunity to experiment. Michael Delaney’s side will be without son Danny Delaney, Brennan MacDonald, Connor Sweeney and Stuart Callison as they also have a London Shield semi final against Lochaber U17 at Invergarry on the same day. Marine Harvest North Division 2 champions Glenurquhart travel to Kirkton to play Kinlochshiel. The Glen will be without several of their regular players such as Kelvin MacKenzie and Ewan Brady as they will be taking part in the London Shiel semi final against Lochaber U17. |
