29 September 2010 The Skye Camanachd U14 side maintained their 100% record in North Division 1 with a hard fought 3-1 win over Glenurquhart U14 at Drumnadrochit on Tuesday 21 September 2010. Skye had the early pressure and were rewarded after only 5 minutes with a well worked goal. The ball was crossed in from DJ Gilpin on the right and was cleverly played to Will Cowie by Angie Grant. Cowie gave the Glen goalie no chance from 15 yards with a backhand drive that flew into the roof of the net. A few minutes later the Glen goalie gave away a penalty when he was adjudged to have kicked the ball. However he made amends with a good save with his feet from Will Cowie’s penalty. Skye were given another penalty opportunity after 26 minutes when a Glen defender fouled Angie Grant inside the D. This time Cowie made no mistake to give Skye a two goal lead. There were other chances for the visitors but a mixture of poor finishing and good defending saw Skye go in at the break 2-0 to the good. Glenurquhart were hitting on the break and started to look more of a threat as the game went on. Ewan Brady was the driving force behind the Glen and he came close to scoring on a couple of occasions. When Glen did hit the target they found Iain MacLeod in the Skye goal to be in confident form. Skye scored their third goal 15 minutes into the second half and once again Angie Grant played in Will Cowie to finish from close range to complete his hat-trick. Glenurquhart never gave up and were rewarded 2 minutes later when a high ball from the centre line was saved by MacLeod only for Aaron Barrow to flick the rebound into the net. Skye were given a fright when the Glen were awarded a penalty with 10 minutes remaining. Ewan Brady's spot hit was struck well but MacLeod made a good save with his feet to give Skye some breathing space for the last few minutes of the game. This was an important win for Skye and makes and it gives the young Islanders 4 wins out of 4 with only 2 league games remaining.
