Portree High School S2 Inter-house Shinty Competition. | |
16 September 2010 Portree High School held a lunchtime inter-house shinty tournament for second year pupils on Friday 10 September 2010 on the school all-weather pitch. This was the second successful lunchtime inter-house shinty competition following last week’s first year event . The tournament was a tight affair with only four goals scored in the whole tournament. Marsco won the tournament thanks to a 1-1 draw with Glamaig. Marsco went ahead thanks to a Kyle Pirie goal following great play by late sub Peter MacCusbic. Marsco’s 1-0 win against Tianabhaig was matched by Bla-bheinn’s victory over Glamaig in the opening games. The Gaelic house could not match their success in the S1 tournament the previous week despite the presence of Skye Camanachd U14 players Angie Grant and Alex MacDonald. Bla-bheinn built a tough unit with Thomas MacPherson of Uig strong at the back which allowed Will Cowie to bomb forward and they were unlucky that the competition was decided on goals scored. Tianabhaig were also excellent and there was nothing between the four teams at the end of the day. It was a heartening sight to see several players, boys and girls, who do not usually play the game involved and playing to a good standard. Congratulations to all the players. Final Standings 1 Marsco 2 Bla-bheinn 3 Glamaig 4 Tianabhaig Thanks to Mr Murphy for his help and to Iain Grant and Jordan Murchison for refereeing. There will be another S1 tournament on Friday 17 September 2010. |
