The Camanachd Association has announced the programme for the revamped Marine Harvest Festival on Saturday 3 July 2010 at An Aird, Fort William.
All 10 teams from shinty’s top division – Bute, Glasgow Mid Argyll, Fort William, Glenurquhart, Inveraray, Kingussie, Kyles Athletic, Lovat, Newtonmore, Oban Camanachd - will be represented in the Marine Harvest Premier Sixes tournament which starts at 11.30am. This replaces the Clash of the Camans format from last year.
The semi finals at 3.40pm and 4pm and the final at 4.50pm will all be televised live on BBC ALBA (Sky Channel 160, Freesat 110).
The day’s programme will also include a Womens’ North v South Shinty Challenge Match.
Youth shinty will also be to the fore in the form of a local shinty schools’ tournament and the Highland Primary Schools Shinty World Cup Final which this year is between Newtonmore and Beauly.
The Marine Harvest Awards for the 2009 shinty season will also take place.
Marine Harvest’s Salmon BBQ will be on site with all proceeds going to their chosen charities; Maggies Cancer Care Centres and the John Hartson Testicular Cancer Awareness and Support Foundation. There will also be a burger van and ice-cream van.
The event is free to enter and gates will open at 10.30am.
